Company and innovation 

As a major player in air transport, Air France has to be a leader in innovative solutions and therefore investigates all innovation fields to strengthen its position. The company invests to offer its customers products adapted to their new needs and ways of traveling.

As regards on-board innovations, Air France has recently unveiled its new La Première suite in Shanghai, a unique concept, with each suite featuring adjustable curtains, a spacious, ergonomically-designed seat and a 24-inch High Definition screen.

Facing increasingly digitalized customer relationship, the company invests in new tools to be closer to its customers. On Facebook and Twitter, Air France answers its customers seven days a week, round the clock. Air France also developed a range of exclusive mobile apps and tools to help their connected passengers manage their trip from their mobile.

On the maintenance field, Air France Industries has invested in state-of-the art technologies and industrial tools to support its cutting-edge technical skills. The company also innovates to develop sustainable technologies whenever it is possible, for instance by eco-designing its products or promoting biofuels for commercial flights.

Implantation in China 

Air France has been present in Mainland China since 1966. This shared history has created a strong attachment between Air France staff and the country of China. Air France and KLM were the first European carriers to serve Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan and Xiamen.

Today, the Group is European leader between Europe and China, in terms of the number of passengers carried. Air France and KLM operate 88 weekly flights connecting their hubs at Paris- Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol to 9 destinations in Greater China: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Wuhan and Taipei.

Finally, from 27 May 2014, Air France will serve Hong Kong by Airbus A380, its second destination served in China by the superjumbo after Shanghai.

With its partners China Southern and China Eastern, Air France-KLM operates up to 135 weekly frequencies to China. AFKL is the only group to have invested as much in secondary cities in Greater China. (launch of Chengdu in 2006, Hangzhou in 2010, Xiamen in 2011, Wuhan in 2012)

These initiatives have been rewarded: on April 16, for the 4th consecutive year, Air France was voted Best European Airline in China at the “TTG China Travel Awards” 2014.

Significant projects in China 

To unveil its new La Première suite, as well as its new travel concept and all the new cabins it has recently revealed, Air France has created a unique event with three international exhibitions in Shanghai, New York and Paris in May, June and September 2014.These exhibitions, which are open free to the public, have been designed as a journey. Real and virtual experiences are combined so that everyone can experience Air France’s new world with interactive animations.Visitors could enjoy the “Air France, France is in the air” exhibition in Shanghai from 8 to 11 May 2014.

Starting from 27 May 2014, Air France will serve Hong Kong by Airbus A380, the second destination in China to be served by the super jumbo after Shanghai.

AFI KLM E&M and Air China Technics signed an agreement organizing support for the GE90 engines equipping the Chinese carrier’s fleet of Boeing 777 aircraft. With this contract AFI KLM E&M signed its largest contract ever. This latest agreement extends the fruitful aircraft maintenance partnership between AFI KLM E&M and Air China and is part of wider cooperation moves.
