Engel’s Coefficient, the proportion of expense on food to the overall consumption expense, is regarded as a gauge of quality life. According to the statistics by National Bureau of Statistics of China, the spending power of the Chinese people has increased continuously in 2013. The Engel’s Coefficients for rural residents of China hit 37.7% in 2013, representing a drop of 1.6 percentage points from the previous year. The figure for urban residents of China reached 35.0%, representing a drop of 1.2 percentage points from the previous year. The enhancement in the spending power of the Chinese people has led to an emerging trend in the pursuit of smart lifestyle.
